Anyone who has ever heard us talk, knows how we feel about planned ignoring, why we feel that way, and that we have neuroscience research to back up our position. If you haven’t heard us talk, you should know we do not like, recommend, or endorse it in anyway. So, in response to being made aware of downloadable “support cards” ( We use that term lightly here.) to alert bystanders of Planned Ignoring being used as a “strategy” to deal with challenging behavior, we took it upon ourselves to create a new visual. This one is to convey to bystanders that developmentally sensible, person-centered, effective, and evidenced-based supports are being employed throughout the entire day, especially when an individual is struggling with dysregulaltion.
